Wear Measurement And Inspection Of Piston Pin In Diesel Generator Set

The piston pin damage of diesel generator set is one of the common faults of piston failure, so the wear measurement, repair and inspection of piston pin is very important.

1、 Measurement and repair of piston pin wear.

(1) Measurement of wear.

The piston pin of internal combustion engine shall be measured with a micrometer. Three parts shall be measured: two ends and the middle. The difference between any two mutually perpendicular diameters measured at each part is the out-of-roundness of the part. The difference between the maximum diameter and the minimum diameter measured on the three parts is the taper. The out-of-roundness and taper shall not be greater than 0.005mm in general.

(2) Repair.

① When the radial wear is greater than 0.5mm, it must be replaced.

② When the radial wear is less than 0.5mm, it can be repaired by chrome plating or upsetting (upsetting: stamping the metal plate to make it deformed, not heating is called cold upsetting, heating is called hot upsetting).

2、 Piston pin crack inspection.

The method is to clean the piston pin first, and then observe it with a magnifying glass. If necessary, magnetic flaw detection can be used. Replace if there are cracks, surface peeling or serious corrosion.
