The basic task of the internal combustion engine lubrication system is to send a certain amount of clean and suitable lubricating oil to each friction surface for lubrication. The main functions of the diesel generator lubrication system are: reducing the friction and wear of parts; cleaning and cooling the friction surface; improving the sealing performance of the piston ring and the cylinder wall; at the same time, it plays a role of rust prevention. With the improvement of the strengthening degree of diesel internal combustion engine, higher requirements are put forward for the diesel generator lubrication system and lubricating oil.

The basic composition of the lubrication system: the lubrication system consists of an oil pump, a filter, a pressure gauge, a temperature gauge, a cooler, and a timing valve. Oil pump, oil pan, oil passage and oil pipe to store oil and force the oil to circulate between moving parts; oil fine filter, coarse filter, collector filter; to remove various impurities in oil; oil pressure gauge , Oil temperature gauge, used to display the working condition of the lubrication system; Oil cooler, used to cool the oil to prevent the oil temperature from being too high, affecting the lubrication effect; Pressure regulating valve, pressure limiting valve and bypass valve, used to adjust and Limit oil pressure to ensure safe and reliable operation of the lubrication system.

Depending on the type of diesel engine, operating conditions and lubrication parts, there are three types of lubrication methods: splash type, pressure type and mixed fuel type.

Splash lubrication: When the medium and small diesel internal combustion engines are working, the oil particles or oil mist splashed by the moving parts are used to lubricate. This splash lubrication method is to use the stirring effect of the large end of the connecting rod when the crankshaft rotates to hit part of the oil. It is made into tiny particles or oil mist, distributed to the surface of the moving parts that need to be lubricated, and the lubricating oil is thrown to the cylinder liner, piston, cylinder, camshaft, etc. for splash lubrication.
