The material inside the fire extinguisher must be foam and can be used directly from the pump or fire box; fire extinguishers should always be located near diesel generator sets and fuel storage depots.

Fires between oil and electricity are dangerous, and there are few types of fire extinguishers available. In this case, we recommend the use of BCF, carbon dioxide or powder desiccant; asbestos blanket is also a useful extinguishing material. Foam rubber can also extinguish oil fires away from electrical equipment. However, absorbents like these also absorb moisture, which is dangerous where electricity is present, as do abrasives. They should be kept separate from fire fighting equipment, and workers should be aware that absorbents and abrasives cannot be used on diesel generator sets or combined distribution equipment. Cooling air can flow around the desiccant. Therefore, before starting the diesel generator set, it should be cleaned as much as possible or the desiccant should be removed.

When a fire occurs in the engine room of the diesel generator set, some local regulations stipulate that in the event of a fire in the engine room, it is necessary to remotely stop the operation of the diesel generator set in an emergency to eliminate the circuit leakage in the event of a fire in the engine room.
