Precautions for Diesel Generator Set Parallel Module

When the diesel generator set is paralleled, the control module is not used. It is all about which brand of module is selected to be used on which brand of engine. In this article, Dingbo Power Generation Equipment will briefly introduce several aspects that need to be paid attention to when using deep-sea modules:

1. Know the brand and model of the engine, and confirm whether it is an ordinary engine or an EFI engine. If it is an EFI engine, it is also necessary to confirm whether the parallel point of the engine itself has been opened. For example, the parallel point of Perkins, Volvo, Cummins and other engines needs to be opened by the engine manufacturer. Also, confirm that the wiring between the engine's ECM or ECU and the controller is correct.

2. Know the brand and model of the speed controller: For example, the ESC of Cummins EFC needs to prepare a 120 kΩ resistor for speed regulation. For a common engine ESC, you need to know how to connect the terminals on the ESC to the controller, and how to set the values of SW1 and SW2 in the software. The EFI engine does not need to be wired, but the values of SW1 and SW2 should also be set in the software.

3. Know the brand and model of AVR: pay attention to how the terminals on the AVR board and the controller are wired, and how to set the values of SW1 and SW2 in the software.

4. If necessary, the customer can submit the wiring diagram of DSE7510 or DSE5510 to the relevant technical personnel of Haihui Company, who will assist in reviewing whether the wiring diagram is correct, and make the program settings in advance to save the time for the customer to set the program on site.

5. The customer prepares the droop transformer (parallel transformer) by himself, and it is recommended to use the droop transformer provided by the diesel generator set manufacturer.

6. The controller box is already equipped with a resistor. In order to prevent the loss of the resistor from affecting the parallel operation, we recommend that the customer prepare another 120 ohm resistor for backup. This resistor is used to connect between the MSC communication ports H and L of the head controller, and between the MSC communication ports H and L of the tail controller.

7. For the communication cable of MSC, it is recommended to use DSE Belden9841 high-quality 120 ohm impedance cable. If ordinary communication cable is used, abnormal MSC communication may occur.

8. When wiring, try not to put the MSC communication cable in the same wire trough with the live wire to prevent interference.
