Precautions for Diesel Generator Sets

Diesel generator sets must be operated by personnel who are familiar with the structure of the generator set and master the safe operating procedures. New or newly overhauled diesel generator sets should be run in 60 hours according to the regulations, and necessary maintenance should be done.

New or long-term unused diesel generator sets must undergo strict inspections before they are put into normal operation, mainly checking winding insulation, wiring, etc. If there is any discrepancy, perform necessary treatment.

After starting the diesel engine of the diesel generator set, the speed should be increased slowly, and the no-load operation from low speed to rated speed can be carried out on the premise that everything is intact after inspection. During no-load operation, focus on checking the oil pressure, whether there is abnormal noise, excitation current, three-phase voltage changes, etc. If there is any abnormality-stop and check immediately. After finding out the situation, start again. If everything is normal, it can be put into normal operation. The operator should closely monitor the changes of the instruments on the control screen to see if they are within the permitted range, and make corresponding adjustments.

During operation, operators should keep a safe distance from live equipment and wear labor protection equipment. The switching operation should pay attention to the sequence, such as power failure, disconnect each branch switch first, then disconnect the main switch, and then switch the position of the four-pole double-throwing knife switch. When power is on, the sequence is reversed. In normal shutdown, part of the load should be removed first, then the main switch should be turned off, and finally the diesel engine should be turned off. It is not allowed to power off automatically when the diesel engine is turned off without pulling off the main switch. After shutdown, perform routine inspections of the unit and record the operation status (working diary).

In the event of an electric shock, the power switch should be cut off quickly, or the power supply should be cut off or disconnected from the power supply quickly with insulating appliances. Then rescued and asked a doctor to come to the scene for rescue. In the event of a flood in electrical equipment, the relevant power supply should be cut off immediately, and reported to the local power supply station, and then fire fighting. Dry fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, etc. should be used for fire fighting of live equipment, and water is not allowed.
