Today, we will briefly introduce to you the matters needing attention in the use of drum DC diesel generators.


The purchase and use of diesel generators should meet the technical requirements on the nameplate, such as voltage, power and rated output current. For example, for Harvest-27 tractor, Dongfanghong-40 tractor, etc., a 150-watt diesel generator is commonly used, and the rated output current is 13 A; for Tie Niu-55 tractor, a 220-watt diesel generator is commonly used, and the rated output current is 18 amps.

Diesel generators used on tractors are usually parallel-excited, that is to say, the excitation coils of diesel generators are connected in parallel, so there is always one end that is connected in parallel with the armature coil through the casing, so there is always one end that passes through. The casing is connected to the armature coil.


If the excitation coil is connected to the armature coil through the casing in the diesel generator, it is called inner ground, which is called "internal ground diesel generator"; External Ground Diesel Generator". The DC diesel generators currently used in domestic tractors are all internally grounded. When wiring, be sure to connect the lead wire of the excitation coil with the carbon brush holder of the grounding iron, so that there is no current through the excitation coil, and the diesel generator will not generate electricity. In addition, some imported tractors use external grounded diesel generators. If you change to internal grounded diesel generators, you only need to exchange the tap wiring of the excitation coil of the diesel generator.


The two terminals on the diesel generator casing are generally marked with the words "armature" and "magnetic field". If the text label is unclear, the following methods can be used to identify it. Armature terminal: the diameter is thicker; it is connected to the insulated brush holder. Magnetic field terminal: the diameter is thinner; one end of the magnetic field coil is pressed on it.


The diesel generator on the tractor is driven by the engine, so the rotation direction is certain. If the diesel generator is rotated in the reverse direction during maintenance, it will not generate electricity. This is because the armature coil is induced under the action of the magnetic field during forward rotation. The outgoing current is communicated with the excitation coil through the regulator. The direction of the magnetic field after the excitation coil is energized is the same as the direction of the remanence of the iron core, so the magnetic field continues to increase and the voltage rises rapidly. When the current is reversed, the current direction is opposite to that of the forward rotation, so that the magnetic field direction after the excitation coil is energized is opposite to the remanence direction of the iron core, and the magnetic field is getting weaker and weaker, so that the diesel generator cannot generate electricity.
