Working Principle of Mechanical Governor of Generator Set

The generator set governor should be able to sensitively adjust the fuel supply according to the change of the external load to maintain the stability of the speed. A generator set governor must have two basic parts: an induction element and an actuator.

Sensing elements are used to sense changes in external loads. When the external load of the generator set changes, because the fuel supply does not adapt to the load, the rotation speed changes first. When the load increases, the speed decreases, and when the load decreases, the speed increases. Therefore, the sensing element must be able to sense the fluctuation of rotational speed sensitively, and transmit the sensed signal to the actuator in time.

The actuator is used to adjust the oil supply accordingly according to the signal transmitted by the inductive element. When the load of the generator set increases and the speed decreases, the actuator should increase the fuel supply to make the speed return to the initial speed. When the load decreases and the speed increases, the actuator should reduce the fuel supply to make the speed drop to the initial speed.
